Philip Pugh's Books

 Site Index

To date, I have written a book for Patrick Moore's practical astronomy series for Springer-Verlag. Observing the Sun with Coronado Telescopes was released in November 2007. It gives an introduction to narrowband solar filtering, one of the great innovations in amateur astronomy since the turn of the millenium. I have been very much at the forefront of this new revolution and am one of the leading users of the entry-level Personal Solar Telescope (PST). It has accompanied my around the world and I have taken several hundred photographs through it. On the subject of photographs, Nick Howes has written an extensive chapter on the subject. Larry Alvarez has written a chapter on the top range telescope, the MaxScope (or SolarMax 90). Other contributors have written about other telescopes in the range to supplement my own investigations and trials.

I am currently writing other books for which no release date has been set.
