Albeiro

This double star marks the head of Cygnus, the swan. You need steady hands or a tripod to split it with 50mm binoculars and I don’t split it every time. Bigger binoculars or a telescope are better.

Many observers claim that Albeiro is the most beautiful double star because of the colour contrast between the orange primary and the blue (some say green) secondary. I don’t dispute it.

Albeiro is at RA 19h 30.7m Dec +27 deg 58 min.

Albeiro is visible from midnight in late March until just after sunset in February.
